Friedenskirche church in Tübingen

Friedenskirche church, Tübingen, Germany

In July 2003, 216 CIS modules from Würth Solar, installed in a very exposed location, began generating power. Together they form an almost 160 square metre photovoltaic system on the roof of Friedenskirche church in Tübingen and, with a nominal output of 12.96 kilowatts, they produce about 10,900 kilowatt hours of electricity each year that is fed to the grid.

With this installation roughly 7.6 metric tons of carbon dioxide less are emitted into the environment each year.

The system was ordered by "Verein Sonnenenergie Friedenskirche", an association formed that year for that specific purpose and was installed and put into operation in July 2003.

In the heart of the heritage-protected centre of Tübingen, one of the special challenges, in addition to performance aspects, was to install the photovoltaic system into the overall cityscape while ensuring the best possible architectural integration.

The association came up trumps in both points with the uniform matt black CIS modules from Würth Solar.

In addition to the Friedenskirche church in Tübingen, Würth Solar – with its production facilities for CIS solar modules already in the second expansion phase – can list a whole range of large and prestigious reference projects.

Many of the modules produced by the company are already installed and, besides their outstanding total energy outputs, are especially attracting a lot of attention because of their visual qualities.
